Different Genres of Films
There are different Genres of Films. The first step towards making our Film opening is to decide what genre we want our films to be in.
CAMERA; Low-angled shots are typically used frequently in crime films, this is in order to make people or objects seem more powerful as they are perceived to be larger than they actually are, dominating the screen, showing high levels of power and importance. High-angled shots are also frequently used during crime films, however in contrast, this shot is used in order to make people or objects seem smaller and by looking down on them it suggests they are more vulnerable and weak. Establishing shots are also used in order to set the scene and show the location and environment of the crime and narrative. These are typically in large cities such as London where power is shown.
There are few major genres of films that includes;
Action. - Adventure. - Comedy. - Crime/Gangster. - Drama. - Epics/Historical. - Horror. - Musicals/Dance.

EDITING
Editing techniques and styles in crime genre films moves from slow to fast, changing the pace of the narrative and speeding up in short, spiking moments of intense action.
The use of quick and fast-paced editing and cuts, the film gives a thrilling atmosphere with high levels of nail-biting tension
MISE EN SCENE
The weapons, guns, knives would be used in criminal movies. Weapons are used as a sign of threat, being used for protection and domination but also as a means of fulfilling the lawbreaking . The color of the weapons will be typically dark (black/grey), this symbolizing evil and danger, portraying them as the antagonist or villain, as dark colors are evil according to color theories. Low-key lighting is used in order to create a dark atmosphere in crime genre films, conveying feelings of danger and also creating an enigma code as in the darkness, the audience is unsure of what is exactly happening. This feeling would similarly increase their interest in movie.
SOUND
The use of fast-paced music is typically used in crime films in order to create a fast paced atmosphere and draw in the attention of the viewer. This will typically happen during criminal moments.
